Step by step

You will practise: recognise real examples of AI in everyday life and at work; name the kind of AI in each example (predicts, recommends, generates or assists); use a search engine and an AI chatbot to research, and check what the chatbot says.

1Look around you10 min
2Search and confirm15 min
3Ask an AI chatbot15 min
4Write about one surprise20 min
!Tips and safety
  • Never type passwords, your address or other personal details into an AI chatbot.
  • If you do not want to create an account, ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot can be tried without one in many countries, with fewer features.
?Reflection questions (answer them when you submit)
  1. How many of your 5 examples did you already use before this exercise without knowing they were AI?
  2. Was the chatbot's answer fully correct when you checked it? What does that tell you?
  3. Which example could change the way people in your sector work?
✓How your work is assessed
  • Five real, relevant AI examples are listed, with at least one from the learner's own sector
  • Each example names what the AI does and the correct kind of AI
  • At least one chatbot answer has been checked against another source
  • The paragraph is in the learner's own words and names one benefit and one limit

You pass with at least 3 of the 4 criteria met (60%). You can improve and resubmit at any time.
