How to run Re-AI with adult learners: structure, pacing, assessment, support and reviews.
Re-AI is a free, 40-hour programme in 4 modules that helps adults with few formal qualifications build AI literacy and digital skills for remote work. You can run it fully online, blended or as workshops. Here you will find delivery advice, a workshop plan for each module, answers to common questions and ready-to-use templates for tutors.
Learners follow the 4 modules in order on the platform at about 4–5 hours a week for 8–10 weeks. Each module unlocks after the learner passes the quiz before it.
Combine online lessons with one face-to-face or live online session per module. Use the session for tool set-up, hands-on exercises and questions; learners finish the rest online.
Run one 3–4 hour workshop per module using the session plans below. Keep talk short and give most of the time to hands-on practice with the real tools.
Offer a short 1:1 check-in at the end of each module, especially for learners with low digital confidence. Review progress, feedback and the next steps together.
Quizzes need 70% (unlimited retakes). Exercises need 60%: 3 of 4 criteria met. Review submissions on the platform: Approve, or Needs improvement with clear feedback.
Use the key words preview, captioned videos and annotated tool guides. Most tasks work on a phone. Allow extra time and pair learners for peer support.
Learners receive a digital badge for each module and the Re-AI Programme certificate after all four modules, including the capstone. Certificates are issued automatically when all requirements are met.
| Time | Activity |
|---|---|
| 15 min | Welcome, aims and a warm-up: learners name one app they use daily and guess if it uses AI. |
| 25 min | What is AI? Short demo of a chatbot; group sorts everyday examples into predicts, recommends, generates or assists. |
| 30 min | EX 1.1 in pairs: find and check 5 AI examples, including one from their own sector. |
| 10 min | Break. |
| 35 min | EX 1.2: create a Google Drive folder, a document and share it with the tutor as Commenter, general access Restricted. |
| 35 min | Staying safe: spot the red flags in sample phishing messages, then EX 1.3 breach check, passphrase and 2-step verification. |
| 20 min | Recap, introduce the Module 1 quiz (70%, unlimited retakes) and how to submit exercises. |
| 10 min | Exit question: one safety habit each learner will start this week. |
| Time | Activity |
|---|---|
| 10 min | Warm-up: learners list the 3 tasks that take most of their time each week. |
| 35 min | EX 2.1: build a Notion task table with 8 tasks, ask Notion AI for top priorities and compare with their own view. |
| 35 min | EX 2.2: draft a complaint reply with AI, then edit it into Version 2 and highlight the changes. |
| 10 min | Break. |
| 40 min | EX 2.3: record a 5-minute practice meeting in groups (with consent), upload to Otter.ai and check the action points. |
| 20 min | Tone practice: rewrite one message for a customer, a manager and a colleague using the tone guide. |
| 20 min | Group discussion: where did the AI help, and where was human judgement needed? Plan quiz and submissions. |
| 10 min | Exit question: one AI habit to try at work or study this week. |
| Time | Activity |
|---|---|
| 15 min | Warm-up: compare the AI answers to a weak prompt and a strong prompt on screen. |
| 40 min | EX 3.1: rewrite 5 weak job-search prompts with CARE and record the improvements in a table. |
| 40 min | EX 3.2: research an employer with AI, check 5 areas on official sources and note what was wrong or out of date. |
| 10 min | Break. |
| 20 min | How employers use AI in hiring: what an ATS reads, and why honesty matters more than keywords. |
| 45 min | EX 3.3: tailor a CV to a real advert, write a What / How / Result project description and start a portfolio page or LinkedIn update. |
| 25 min | Peer review in pairs using the LinkedIn and ATS checklists, then quiz and submission reminder. |
| 15 min | Exit question: one job each learner will apply for, and one thing they will check in AI answers. |
| Time | Activity |
|---|---|
| 15 min | Warm-up and overview of the 4 exercises and the 3 capstone pathways. |
| 50 min | EX 4.1: write a FAQ and system prompt, build a Chatbase bot with AI disclosure and log 10 tests. |

| 10 min | Break. |
| 40 min | EX 4.3: choose a service with the four-way fit, fill the canvas and build a 6-month income projection. |
| 35 min | EX 4.4: audit the chatbot with the 20-point ethics checklist and place it in an EU AI Act risk tier. |
| 35 min | Capstone planning: each learner chooses a pathway, lists deliverables and plans the 400-word reflection. |
| 15 min | Recap, quiz reminder, how badges and the certificate are issued, and celebration of progress. |

Plan a face-to-face or online workshop: aims, timings, activities, materials and checks.
A 4-criteria, 4-level rubric with a scoring sheet. 60% pass = at least 3 of 4 criteria met.
A short end-of-module form to collect learners' views on content, tools, support and confidence.
Track each learner's sessions, quiz scores, exercises approved and capstone in one sheet.

Each exercise has 4 criteria. Check the submission against each one. A learner passes with at least 3 of 4 criteria met (60% pass mark). Use the assessment rubric to stay consistent between tutors.
Open the submission on the platform and choose 'Approve' or 'Needs improvement'. When you return work, write short feedback: one strength, one clear thing to fix and one next step. Learners can then resubmit.
Quizzes have a 70% pass mark and unlimited retakes. Encourage the learner to review the lesson and try again. If they fail several times, offer a short check-in to find the difficult topic.
Most lessons and many exercises work on a smartphone or tablet. Plan workshop time on shared devices for tasks that are easier on a computer, and point learners to local digital access schemes.
Share the key words before each lesson, use the captioned videos and annotated tool guides, pair them with a peer and offer a 1:1 check-in at the end of each module. Focus on core exercises done well.
Learners never submit passwords or real customer data, and only check their own email for breaches. Remind them to read the data terms of free AI tools. Store records under your organisation's GDPR policy.
The platform awards a badge automatically for each completed module and the Re-AI Programme certificate when all four modules are complete, including the capstone. Tutors do not need to create them by hand.
Yes, using AI is part of the course. Learners must check and correct AI output, keep their own voice and say where AI helped. Return work that looks copied from AI without any checking.
